Mayne Students: Our Voice is Our Power

First grade students at George Mayne Elementary School have recently been using their voices to be active participants in a representative democracy. As part of their “Leaders of Justice” unit, students wrote letters to President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Padilla, Senator Feinstein, or Representative Khanna. 

In their letters, the students stated a problem, requested action and justified why the action was important. “Hurray for our young people actively engaging in democracy,” said Mayne teacher Leslie Code.
