A Successful Launch for the SCUSD Farmstand

May 2022

April 28 was the soft opening for the SCUSD Farmstand and it was a great success! The student-run Farmstand received visits from staff members and their families, along with many local community members.

Customers purchase produce at the Farmstand

On the official opening day, April 29, the Farmstand had many sales of their local fresh produce such as herbs, cauliflower, carrot, kale, spring garlic, radish, fava beans, and zucchini. The 4 Wilcox High School students running the Farmstand were kept very busy helping customers and keeping track of sales with a steady flow of customers for 2 hours!

The Farmstand teaches students and staff alike not only how to run a business, but also how to make sales, and put their customer service skills into practice. Big thanks to the entire team — Kathleen Lane, Cathy Thornton, Mint Pasakdee, and David Tuttle — who made this great opportunity for our students possible.

The Farmstand is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except on school holidays) at 1055 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale and everyone is welcome. You can learn more about the SCUSD Farm on the district website.
