Over $66,000 Worth of Classroom Materials Awarded During Giving Tuesday
At the end of last year, Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) participated in Giving Tuesday and we are happy to share that it was a great success! Thanks to our generous donors, 106 teacher projects were funded, over $66,000 worth of materials were awarded, and an estimated 8540 students will be served before the end of the school year!
On the Tuesday following Thanksgiving — with the goal of bringing resources into our classrooms — SCUSD, Santa Clara Schools Foundation, and DonorsChoose.org. partnered for the third year in a row to promote the donation event to our community and they responded generously. Donations to support our schools were received not just locally, but from across the country.
Below are some messages of gratitude that we received from our teachers:
“Thank you so much for your donation. We wish children have an opportunity to take home some art materials and design their own projects during winter break with their families. I am working on lesson plans by using these materials and supporting children to engage children's fine motor, curiosity, and initiative in learning and languages skills.” — Mrs. Kim, Scott Lane
“I have wonderful news! My donor choose new book project was funded. Thank you for sharing your dollars. Our families now and the many families who will come through our program will benefit from these books for years to come. As a community dedicated to student learning, this is one more way we can keep the love of learning alive in our kids.” — Ms. Anna, Washington Open
Thank you to everyone who donated, we greatly appreciate your ongoing support.
