Peterson Middle School and the New Laurelwood Elementary School Master Plan Community Meeting

January 2022

Join us for our community outreach meeting on January 19 at 6 p.m. to learn more about the Master Plan for Peterson Middle School and Laurelwood Elementary School.

Voter-approved general obligation bond Measure BB allocated bond funds to design and build a new elementary school for Laurelwood Elementary on the Patrick Henry Campus and new fields at Peterson Middle School. In order to create a plan that encompasses all of the district's assets, SCUSD is creating a master plan for the new Laurelwood Elementary campus and a portion of Peterson Middle School.

A master plan is a dynamic long-term planning document that provides a visionary site plan to guide future expansion with enhanced student and community access to the sites.

The district understands the significant impact the Bryan Osborne Nature Area and The SCUSD Farm has on students and the community. This process will allow the district to strategically plan for improvements and greater access to both areas.

Areas Included in the Master Plan

  • Patrick Henry Campus
  • Peterson Fields
  • Peterson Tennis Courts
  • Peterson Parking Lots and Drop Off Areas
  • The Bryan Osborne Nature Area
  • The SCUSD Farm

Currently, funding is only identified for the new Laurelwood Elementary School and the Peterson fields. The other improvements identified in the master plan will be completed as funding is secured. Once the master plan is complete in spring 2022, the design of the new Laurelwood Elementary School and the Peterson fields will begin.
