Learning Centers Update

To reduce the impact of school closures on our families during distance learning, Santa Clara Unified School District will make no-cost Learning Centers available to families with school-aged children who need help with child care assistance during school hours. There are two options available. Please carefully read below for more information, including start dates, locations, and how to register. 

 

SCUSD Learning Centers

YMCA Learning Centers

Start Date

September 14, 2020

The program does not hold spots for future start dates. The child’s start date must be within two weeks of completing the registration process.

Grades and Students Eligible

TK-5 grade students who attend any SCUSD school

K-8 grade students who attend a SCUSD school served by the YMCA:

  • Scott Lane  
  • Pomeroy
  • Bracher
  • Buchser
  • Bowers 
  • Hughes
  • Cabrillo
  • Montague
  • Briarwood

Site 

Care provided at:

  • Briarwood
  • Central Park
  • Don Callejon
  • Laurelwood
  • Mayne
  • Millikin
  • Westwood

Every effort will be made to place families at the site nearest to their residence. Limited capacity.

Children will be assigned to a stable group (cohort) of no more than 12 children per group. This 12-child limit does not include personnel.

Once children are assigned a site, this location cannot be changed.

Meal Service

Pre-packaged morning and afternoon snacks, students bring their own lunch.

Our program is open to all SCUSD students. We are also targeting additional outreach efforts to the following:

  • Previous SCUSD Extended Day Participants 
  • School Site Referrals
  • Essential Workers
  • Free and Reduced Meal Participants
  • Disengaged Students
  • Academically Struggling Students
  • Homeless and Foster Youth

Submit an Interest Form

After interest form is received, a registration completion packet will be emailed from the SCUSD Online Enrollment System (SchoolMint)
