Awards for our Budding STEM Leaders

It's with great pleasure that we share the news that many of our talented students won awards at the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship and at the eCYBERMISSION competition

The annual Synopsys Championship showcases students in Santa Clara County who will become our future scientists, technology experts, engineers, and mathematicians. This regional competition celebrates achievement by middle and high school students supported by their parents, teachers, and schools.

Students and teachers alike from Cabrillo Middle School, Peterson Middle School, Santa Clara High School, and Wilcox High School won awards at the Synopsis Championships. Many of the students also qualified for the California Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF), some were nominated for the Broadcom MASTERS, and some students received college grants. Not only has Cabrillo once again been named "Outstanding School" by the Synopsys Championship board, but they are also the only public middle school to receive this recognition. 

eCYBERMISSION is a web-based science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition for students in grades six through nine that promotes self-discovery and enables all students to recognize the real-life applications of STEM. 

At this year’s eCYBERMISSION competition, Cabrillo Middle School 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) students “Accepted the Challenge” and excelled. Congratulations to 7th grade teams Micro Catches who won first place, Mean Green who took second place, and Fire Alert who received an honorable mention. As if this wasn’t enough, Cabrillo can also boast that it was the only school in California to win state awards at both fairs!

Congratulations to everyone who participated and to those who made it happen! What an amazing example to set for your fellow peers.
