March 21, 2020

En Español

Dear SCUSD Families,

This letter provides you with specific instructions about our revised open enrollment procedures, which will remain in place until otherwise notified by the district.

If You Received an Open Enrollment Acceptance Letter

If you accept your 2020- 2021 open enrollment assignment, please notify, by email, the secretary/registrar at the school where your child was accepted to advise them that you are accepting the spot. Please do this by 4:00 p.m. on April 3, 2020.

If you do not accept your open enrollment assignment, please notify, by email, the secretary/registrar at the school to advise them you will not be attending, and email your home school to let them know that you will be attending your home school. Please do this by 4:00 p.m. on April 3, 2020.

In your email, please include the following information:

  1. Student name
  2. Student grade
  3. Student permanent ID number (this was used during your open enrollment application)

If You Received an Open Enrollment Decline Letter

Please send an email to your home school secretary/registrar to advise them regarding your plans for next year, including whether you will be attending your home school.  Please do this by 4:00 p.m. on April 3, 2020.

In your email, please include the following information:

  1. Student name
  2. Student grade
  3. Student permanent ID number (this was used during your open enrollment application)

Second Round of Open Enrollment

As of this time, the second round of open enrollment is on hold until we determine which schools still have availability. Any students/families who were declined for their first choice during the first round of open enrollment will receive advance notification about the revised application window for the second round of open enrollment.

Things to Remember

  • You do not lose your spot at your home school by applying for open enrollment, even if your current home school was initially an open enrollment application
  • We will reply to all emails and voicemails to confirm receipt as soon as we can — please do not send multiple emails
  • Staff are inundated with emails and phone calls right now so please be patient
  • Check our Open Enrollment webpage regularly for updates
  • Check our Coronavirus Updates webpage regularly for updates

Please use this list of email addresses to contact school secretaries (elementary schools) and registrars (middle and high schools).

We thank you for your calm and patience while we work together during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Attendance and Discipline Department
Santa Clara Unified School District
