New Faces: Shari Giacomini, Special Education Program Specialist
Shari Giacomini received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from University of California Berkeley and a credential in special education (mild/moderate) from San Jose State University. In addition, she earned an administrative services credential from the Santa Clara County Office of Education and a master’s in educational leadership from National University.
Shari joined the Santa Clara Unified team as a special education teacher on special assignment (TOSA) in August 2018. In this role, she supported students in non-public school (NPS) settings, coordinated and case managed private school referrals, and supported literacy and professional development.
Prior to coming to Santa Clara, Shari taught in Moreland School District for over 10 years. During that time, she taught in a therapeutic special day class in grades 1 through 5, a mild/moderate special day class in grades 4 through 8, and a special academic instruction general education collaboration class in grades 6 through 8.
All of these experiences have broadened her knowledge and made her a versatile educator ready for this new venture as a special education program specialist.
