Character Building at Pomeroy Elementary School

November 2019

Starting on November 13, Pomeroy Elementary School participated in six days of character building that culminated in their annual Fun Run!

Students received several visits from a special guest, A+ Arvin, who was there to get them pumped up and excited for the race. A+ Arvin is an SCUSD alumnus, he attended elementary school at Don Callejon, middle school at Peterson, high school at Wilcox, and is a recent graduate from New York University with a degree in Business Administration and Education Leadership.

In addition, students watched videos that covered topics such as honesty, gratitude, generosity, kindness, and humility. The reception from staff and students was impressive according to secretary Luis Calonje. As the pledges continued to flood in, Calonje said, “I didn’t know the staff were that competitive”.

All of the attendees had a fantastic time running, walking, singing, and dancing — all while raising $10,638 and counting.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this event a success!
