Message from the Superintendent: Thanksgiving 2019

Message from the Superintendent Dr. Stella M. Kemp

Dear Santa Clara Unified Staff, Families, and Community:

At this time of year and in every year since 1863 when President Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving,” we pause to give thanks for all our blessings.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish to extend a message of thanks and appreciation for the work that the entire educational and support team does in helping students to grow and learn. We are very fortunate to live and work in such a vibrant and supportive community that values the work of preparing “each child” in Santa Clara Unified for lifelong success.

Staff, I am grateful to each of you. I have passed through many classrooms this year and appreciated the kindness, warmth, and efforts our staff so lovingly share with our children. Additionally, our classrooms are exciting, our schools look good, the cafeterias are festive. Each and every one of you should enjoy Thanksgiving mindful of the fact that YOU have made a difference for many — and believe me many, many families in Santa Clara Unified are grateful.

As I offer you and your families my warm wishes that you will enjoy a happy and bountiful Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share with you the abundance of thanks we owe to our community and beyond for demonstrating such extraordinary support for the Measure BB 2019 bond to modernize our schools. A resounding 67% of the votes cast were in favor of Measure BB, well above the 55% required to pass. We are grateful for the community’s years-long commitment to our schools.

You have welcomed me to our district where we share many challenges, but this year I am most thankful for each of you as we go forward together to make our school district something we can continue to be very proud of. It is a great privilege to support our children each day. I am optimistic about the year ahead and deeply honored to be serving as your Superintendent.

My blessings to each of you and your loved ones and best wishes for a very happy Thanksgiving!

Yours Sincerely,

 Stella M. Kemp
