This year, Second Harvest Food Bank recognized Santa Clara Unified School District and Santa Clara Mission Library with their “Big Apple” award for all of the students served during the summer meal program.
The program ensures that all students are fed free nutritious meals, even when our schools are out for the summer. Through this new partnership, Santa Clara Unified School District and our Nutrition Services department staff prepared 10,600 meals that were served at the Mission Library this summer.
In appreciation of all of the great work surrounding the summer meals program, Supervisor Susan Ellenberg submitted a proclamation recognizing September as Hunger Action Month. Santa Clara Unified School District and our Nutrition Services department were invited to the September 24 County Board of Supervisor’s meeting to be recognized for all of the hard work that went into the program.
