Katharine Alaniz started her special education career as an instructional assistant before becoming a special education teacher in 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Stanislaus in liberal studies, her teaching credential and masters from California State University, and her administrative credential from National University.
In 2004, Tracy Unified School District hired Katharine as a program specialist in special education and she was promoted to director of special education.
In her role as the director of special education at Tracy Unified, she served approximately 1,900 special education students as well as managed, evaluated, trained, and collaborated with 250 special education staff members.
Katharine’s knowledge and experience with special education processes, procedures, and legal issues will be a great asset to SCUSD.
