Schools Rewarded for Positive Behavioral Techniques

Over the last few years, a group of schools in our district has worked rigorously to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS). Each school, lead by a dedicated Site Leadership Team (SLT), has forged ahead, through successes and challenges, to implement positive and proactive behavioral approaches. These approaches are based in evidence, and they require teaching skills, acknowledging appropriate, expected behaviors, and applying consequences for violations.

In August of 2018, seven schools received notification that they were being recognized for their efforts by the California PBIS Coalition. These schools include Bracher Elementary, Hughes Elementary, Montague Elementary, Pomeroy Elementary, Ponderosa Elementary, and Sutter Elementary — silver awards — and Don Callejon K-8 School — bronze award. Read more at the District website.

Each school will be acknowledged at the California PBIS Conference and displayed on the CA PBIS Coalition Website for the 2018-2019 school year.

Congratulations to everyone involved! SCUSD is proud of your efforts — keep up the great work.
