    Constructing a Strong Foundation for the Future

    Construction students at Santa Clara High School closed out the school year strong by winning significant awards! Senior Armando De Anda took second place at the recent State Leadership and Skills Conference, carpentry division in Ontario, California. Seniors Raina Liem and Daniel Janusz also won awards at the local S4CA Construction Education Careers Exhibition in San Jose.

    SCHS Choir Prove They Really Are "Superior"

    The Santa Clara High School Concert Choir 2 attended the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Festival held at Palo Alto High School on May 6. The ensemble was awarded a Unanimous Superior rating for their performance of “Hela Rotan” by Ken Stevens, “The Parting Glass” by Sarah Quartel, and “Kanaval” by Sydney Guillaume.

At the May 25 Board of Trustees meeting, it was announced that Danielle Metz will be the new principal of Braly Elementary School and Maria Posas will be the new vice principal at Santa Clara High School.

    On May 19, Wilcox High School fashion design and marketing students designed, managed, and participated in their annual fashion show at the Mission City Center for Performing Arts Center. It was a sold-out show with over 320 guests from the surrounding community!

    Lori Garmany Receives Follow Your Bliss Award

    Congratulations to Callejon Paraprofessional Lori Garmany who was recently awarded a Follow Your Bliss Award. Each year, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of California at Berkeley and 49ers consultant Dr. Harry Edwards, the 49ers Foundation, and the Micron Foundation collaborate to recognize 10 local educators for their “superlative achievement in teaching.”

    First grade students at George Mayne Elementary School have recently been using their voices to be active participants in a representative democracy. As part of their “Leaders of Justice” unit, students wrote letters to President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Padilla, Senator Feinstein, or Representative Khanna.

  • Watch the Film Angst

    Mental Health Awareness Resource for Families

    “Angst,” is a documentary-style film that was created to educate adults who support kids about what is causing stress and anxiety, and what it feels like for them. The film includes interviews with kids, teens, educators, experts, and parents. It is available to SCUSD families and staff for free through the end of June.

    We are excited to share that Wilcox High School students Shreyan Mitra and Sezen Musa have been selected from 628 semifinalists to advance to the final round of the 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholars competition.
