• Mrs. Shehnaz Wadhwania brings over two decades of experience as an educational leader serving in different capacities and in different cities, sites and districts. Prior to joining Santa Clara Unified School District as a founding principal for Agnew Elementary, Mrs. Wadhwania was appointed as the Director of Teaching and Learning (Elementary) for Title I and high needs schools in Bellevue School District, Washington. She has served in different roles such as a high school English Language Arts teacher for AP and IB English courses, department chair, program director, instructional coach, dean of instruction and assistant principal at elementary and high schools in Dallas-Texas, Renton and Bellevue, both in Washington State.

    Mrs. Wadhwania has proven expertise in developing innovative school and program (re)design, building equitable and supportive processes and school systems, leading professional development initiatives, creating positive and productive school culture through behavior support programs and restorative practices, crafting culturally responsive, inter-disciplinary, innovative and rigorous curriculum and in implementing effective and relevant teaching practices particularly for the success of language learners and students with special needs from diverse backgrounds.

    Mrs. Wadhwania has a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, New York and two Bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and in General Law, and a Master’s in Business Administration from University of Mumbai, India. She has principal certification from Seattle University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in K-12 Education (Hybrid) from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

    As a community member, Mrs. Wadhwania volunteers her time to support non-profit educational institutions in the developing countries. She also serves as a volunteer trainer for International Baccalaureate Programs and provides coaching to national and international school leaders in implementing innovative and intentional educational practices for student success.

    Born and raised in India, Mrs. Wadhwania moved to the US in 2001 and currently she lives in San Jose with her husband, Murad, and their two children. Her daughter Ruhee graduated in June 2020 from UC Berkeley with double major in Public Health and Economics. Her son Fahim is a high school junior and attends Summit Denali High School.
