Statement on Recent National Shootings
The school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that has taken the life of 18 elementary students and a teacher is horrifying. This comes on top of the racially motivated shootings in Buffalo, New York and Laguna Hills, California. Our hearts break as we consider the loss and impact that these incidents have had on schools, families, and communities.

Wilcox Celebrates Cultural Diversity
On May 17, Wilcox High School hosted its annual Multicultural Rally — an opportunity to highlight the cultural and ethnic diversity of the school.

Peterson Students Show the Beauty in Recycling
Mrs. Jackson’s class at Peterson Middle recently brightened up their library by creating a beautiful seascape made entirely from recycled products. The class was inspired to create the display for the district STEAM Expo on May 26 to bring awareness of the plastic pollution affecting marine life.

New Valley Film Festival
On May 20, New Valley High School hosted its inaugural Film Festival. The “Everybody Can Make a Film” themed event allowed the video production students in teacher Johnny Reyna’s class to showcase short films, documentaries, and commercials that they had created over the course of the school year.

Student Learning Opportunities
Santa Clara and Wilcox students participate in field trips that give students the opportunity to connect with other networks and adults to build resiliency skills and gain practical information on college and career options.

Wilcox Students Showcase Artistic Talents
On May 6, Wilcox High School students showcased their work during their annual Art Expo. Exhibits consisted of clay pottery, models, paintings, sketches, self-portraits, films, live music, cars, fashion designs, and much more.
