SCUSD Farm
The Farm, located on the Peterson Middle School campus, has been operating under Santa Clara Unified School District since August 2017. The Farm has harvested hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce that have been served in Santa Clara Unified Cafeterias.
We harvest and serve rainbow carrots, romaine lettuce, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, blood oranges, nectarines, apricots, eggplant, squash, tomatoes, basil, and cilantro. Nutrition Services also uses the farm produce for Nutrition Education in the cafeteria. For example, the kale that was harvested was made into kale chips and sampled by the students. They loved it!
During the school year, K-12 students come to the Farm for field trips to learn about plants, pollination, bees, composting, soil science, and many other topics. The District has two full-time farmers and a Farm Educator who lead the tours and field trips.
