SCUSD Farm

The Farm, situated on the Peterson Middle School campus, has been under the operation of the Santa Clara Unified School District since August 2017. Serving as a flourishing hub of agricultural activity, our farm contributes hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to Santa Clara Unified Cafeterias.

Cultivating a diverse array of crops, including rainbow carrots, romaine lettuce, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, blood oranges, nectarines, apricots, eggplant, squash, tomatoes, basil, and cilantro, our farm not only supplies our school cafeterias but also plays a pivotal role in Nutrition Education. Embracing an innovative approach, we transform freshly harvested produce, like kale, into delicious snacks such as kale chips, enjoyed by students.

Throughout the school year, The Farm warmly welcomes K-12 students for enlightening field trips, providing a unique opportunity to explore and learn. These excursions offer valuable insights into plants, pollination, bees, composting, soil science, and various other fascinating topics. The Farm is supported by two full-time farmers and a Farm Educator who guides tours and field trips.

Join us in the exploration of agriculture, fostering connections between students and the food they consume, and promoting a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. The SCUSD Farm is more than a space for growth; it's a vibrant educational resource for our community.
