SCUSD Farm

About Our Farm

Located on the Peterson Middle School campus, the Farm has been a cornerstone of the Santa Clara Unified School District since August 2017. Our farm is a thriving center of agricultural activity, dedicated to producing hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh, nutritious produce for our school cafeterias each year.

We cultivate a rich variety of crops, from vibrant rainbow carrots and crisp romaine lettuce to succulent tomatoes and unique blood oranges. This diverse produce not only enriches our students’ meals but also supports our nutrition education programs, where we turn freshly harvested ingredients into student-friendly snacks like kale chips.

A beloved feature of our farm is the Farm Stand, which offers a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy our farm-fresh produce. By bringing a selection of our harvest directly to local residents, the Farm Stand helps to deepen the connection between our farm and the community.

Throughout the school year, we welcome K-12 students to experience the farm through interactive field trips. These visits provide valuable hands-on learning about plants, pollination, composting, and soil science. Our dedicated team—comprising of two full-time farmers and a knowledgeable Farm Educator—guides these educational experiences, aiming to inspire a lasting appreciation for agriculture and sustainability.

Join us in celebrating the joys of farming, strengthening the bond between students and their food, and promoting a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. The SCUSD Farm is not just a place of growth; it’s a vibrant educational resource and a cherished part of our community.
