Westwood Elementary Modernization

Project Updates as of October 2024:

The Work is divided into phases beginning with site work summer 2025. Work will extend into the 2025-26 school year. All projects phases will be completed by the end of 2026.  Construction drawings and specifications are being completed for next summer’s work. DSA permit application have begun. Design development drawings are nearly complete for the building construction phase:

• New multipurpose building with full kitchen, indoor/outdoor stage opening to the playground.
• New lunch court between the kitchen-serving area and the multipurpose room. The lunch court is open but under the building roof with skylights, preserving the existing access pathway through the campus.
• The indoor/outdoor stage opens to the playground.
• New parking lot and drives fronting Saratoga Avenue.
• New standing-seam metal roofing on permanent buildings. 

The scope of work for work planned to begin next summer is as follows:

• Vacate classroom wing adjacent to library
• Demolish classroom wing.
• Modify underground utility piping in preparation for new kitchen and multipurpose building.
• Install new replacement standing seam metal roofing on the library and kindergarten classroom wings and the office.
• Build a new preschool playground adjacent to the recently relocated portable classrooms.
