Westwood Elementary Modernization

Project Updates as of February 2025:

The Work is divided into phases beginning with site work summer 2025. Work will extend into the 2025-26 school year. All projects phases will be completed by the end of 2026.  Construction drawings and specifications are being completed for next summer’s work. DSA permit application have begun. Design development drawings are nearly complete for the building construction phase:

• New multipurpose building with full kitchen, indoor/outdoor stage.
• New lunch court between the kitchen-serving area and the multipurpose room. The lunch court is open but under the building roof with skylights, preserving the existing access pathway through the campus.
• The indoor/outdoor stage opens to the playground.
• New parking lot and drives fronting Saratoga Avenue.

The following scope of work for this summer has been advertised for bids:

• Demolish one classroom wing.
• Construct new preschool playground.
• New storm drain system for the east side of the campus including the turf field.
• New standing-seam metal roofing on permanent buildings.
• Trees within the work area: 19 trees will be removed, 31 new trees will be planted for the Modernization project, and an additional 4 trees will be planted for the preschool playground.
