New Laurelwood Elementary School

The project will construct a new elementary school at the former Patrick Henry Intermediate School located at 1095 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale, CA including new single-story classroom buildings, multipurpose and administration buildings.The school is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2026.

Project Updates as of February 2025:

• The Project is being implemented in phases:
  • Off-site development (utilities and street improvements) phases one and two.
  • Increment 1: Site Grading and Underground Utilities.
  • Increment 2: Building and Site Construction.
•  Phase one off-site street improvements include water and sewer connections in Dunford Way and Teal Drive. Phase two includes other street improvements, such as driveway and sidewalks.
• Phase one underground utility work in Dunford and Teal Drives will begin this month. Traffic controls will be in place.
• Increment 1 Site Grading and Underground Utilities work is nearly complete. Rain has hampered progress.
• Most contracts for Increment 2 Building Construction were approved on January 9, 2025.
• While some contracts are yet to be bid, it appears that the project costs will be within the approved budget.
• The school on-track to open in August 2026.
