Briarwood Elementary Modernization

Project Updates as of August, 2026:

The Work is divided into phases beginning with site work summer 2025. Work will extend into the 2026-27 school year. All projects phases will be completed by the end of 2026:

• New parking lot and drives.
• Two new classrooms buildings with six classrooms and support spaces.
• New preschool/K playground with shade.

• Building occupancy has been delayed.  
• Classes will continue in the locations where they were at the start of the summer. 
• The new buildings are expected to be ready for occupancy in September. 
• Work on the Townsend Street frontage will continue into August. 
• A legacy property boundary issue in Townsend Street delayed the City Encroachment permit. 
• Soils testing and DTSC approvals severely delayed parking lot construction. 
• Theft of critical electrical wiring hampered final completion of the classroom building.
