Camp SPARK! - Specialty Camps

  • Specialty camps are week-long sessions focusing on specialized topics and offer multiple learning experiences. 

    FCE is following all district and public health guidance. Activities are subject to change. Scholarships are available for income-qualifying families as specific camps as listed below.*

    Coding Camp: Tech Titans | 4th-8th Grade

    At Tech Titans Camp, the students will unleash their creativity and learn to problem-solve with engaging fun coding projects that introduce students how software and hardware work together. Students will learn about loops, conditional statements, variables, debugging and other core coding concepts. 

    • Micro:bit 101: Micro:bit 101 is a coding intensive course where students will learn about inputs & outputs, accelerometers, sensors, servo motors, and radio frequencies as they program the BBC micro:bit mini computer to complete various tasks using Microsoft MakeCode programming language.
    • Design a Space Rover: Students will learn about physics, mechanical engineering, and how technology can be utilized to problem solve and enhance mechanical projects as they build simple machines out of everyday materials to design their own prototype of a space exploration rover. Coding concepts will be introduced as they program LEGO WeDo & DASH robots, and the BBC micro:bit mini computer to demonstrate the mechanics of controlling their rover’s movement and how environmental sensors, radio communication, and LED light signals can be used to enhance their rover’s capabilities.

    Culinary Camp: Simmer, Stew, & Bake it Too! | 4th-8th Grade

    Our Simmer, Stew & Bake it Too! chefs will learn and explore new cooking techniques, safe food handling, and etiquette as well as prepare a full menu of recipes from scratch. All while making sure their workstations are kept organized & properly sanitized.

    • American Road Trip: Features recipes from 5 regions around the US - Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest & West including cheesesteaks, chicken and sausage gumbo, sweet corn cakes, lemon berry tarts, etc.
    • Around the World: Features recipes from 5 different cuisines - Asia, English, The Meditterranean, Latin America & Eastern Europe including brigadeiros, egg drop soup, fresh pita bread, pierogi, etc.
    • On Today's Menu: Features recipes to serve all day - Breakfast, Snacks, Lunch, Dinner & Dessert including crepes, homemade bread, chicken pot pie, ice cream, etc.
    • SSBT Goes Green: Features vegetarian recipes including chili, s'mores, stuffed bell peppers, bechamel macaroni & cheese, etc.

    Science Camp: Fun, Creative, Exciting (FCE) Laboratory | 4th-8th Grade

    When budding scientists join FCE Laboratory, they will develop their own hypotheses, predictions, and conclusions as they work on multiple science experiments each day. Scientists will explore chemical reactions, density, and engineering.

    Crafts Camp: The Art of Fun | 4th-8th Grade

    The Art of Fun will pique aspiring artists' curiosity and creativity as they learn new and exciting crafting techniques such as paper quilling, painted vinyl and wood signs, canvas projects, and more.

    Farm to Table Camp | Kindergarten-8th Grade

    At the Santa Clara USD Farm, young farmers will have the opportunity to learn where their food comes from and enjoy farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs! Farm to Table Camp will teach farmers the science of farming as well as hands-on experience with food and cooking. FCE-SCUSD is proud to provide the 10th Annual Farm to Table Camp in collaboration with Stanford University.

    • Kinder-5th Grade: June 21-June 25 | July 12-16 | July 26-July 30
    • 6th-8th Grade: June 28-July 2 | July 19-July 23
