Santa Clara Unified prides itself on our culture of excellence, which cultivates a positive, solution-oriented environment that nurtures communication, compassion, competency, and consistency. Our Labor-Management Partnership brings together staff from the California Schools Employee Association (CSEA), the Unified Teachers of Santa Clara (UTSC), and SCUSD management to ensure that everyone is involved in the decision-making process and that we are working together toward continual improvement. Employees work as a team to prepare today’s students to be the thinkers, leaders, and creators of tomorrow. Strong Community Support
Santa Clara is known for its Parent Teacher Association units that support the work of each school. School Site Councils also involve teachers and parents in individual school planning.
Our Business Partnership Program provides ongoing support from the business community. Prestigious participants include National Semiconductor, Altera, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Hitachi, Sony, and many others.
Multiple programs designed to improve the educational opportunities for our students have already been implemented and are flourishing. Several elementary schools have introduced the Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM) which includes Reading Recovery as an intervention strategy to improve early literacy. Other programs being implemented include Reading and Writing Workshop and Sobrato Early Academic Language. SCUSD elementary programs also include two transitional bilingual schools, a STEAM school, a parent participation school, 2 computer science immersion schools and a Basics+ school. Career and technical education pathways are offered at both of our comprehensive high schools as part of our commitment to increase school-to-work training opportunities. We also have the STEM Leadership Institute which is a program spanning grades 7-12 at Cabrillo and Santa Clara High.
Santa Clara's Special Education Program serves students from pre-K to age 22 and provides full inclusion models at most sites. English language learners are placed in classes with Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) certified teachers.
There are many other specialized teaching opportunities in our district including academic support, AVID, advanced placement and honors classes.
Desirable Location, Housing, and More
Santa Clara Unified understands the challenges of living in an affluent area like ours and with this in mind, we created a unique teacher housing assistance program. The Casa del Maestro housing complex was built to provide affordable housing exclusively to teachers working in our District.
Located in the Heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara is known for its wonderful climate, beautiful scenery, and a multitude of fun family attractions. The close proximity of Santa Clara to mountains and beaches allows residents to ski one weekend and swim the next. With everything from interactive, educational museums to historic sites, a college campus, and the world’s most high-tech stadium, Santa Clara checks all the boxes.
