Cabrillo makes a run for it!
The team is raising money through Tracy Pope, who is also running with Team in Training, a group dedicated to fighting Leukemia and Lymphoma. Comments from the runners: "I am running to honor my mom and everyone else who is fighting or has fought cancer. I plan to stomp it out with every step of my 13.1 mile run!!!" -Harjinder Basi “I am running for our wonderful Cabrillo staff, Joyce, Judy, Tracey, Ha, and Jack. I am also running for Amy Moss who lost her battle at age 6, and my sister-in-law who lost her battle against cancer last month. I’m hoping that this race will bring in more funds to find a cure.” -Carole Cote “As a 23-year survivor of Hodgkin’s disease, I want to give back to an organization that is making that kind of long-term survival possible for others. To be able to honor other survivors and do something I love (yes, running 13.1 miles is FUN!) is just the icing on the cake.” -Tracy Pope “ It feels great to honor Judy, Jack, Joyce, Ha, and Tracy and at the same time be part of a lifesaving cause. To run with Judy’s family and 24 others from Cabrillo Middle School is pretty cool.” -Glenn Aby Julie Garber, my little sister was a victim of leukemia. I still miss her. -Stan Garber This I am running in honor of my Aunt Judy and my favorite teacher, Joyce Brand. -Erin Edwards Judy and I have sponsored runners for worthy causes in the past, but never participated directly. I've now seen the challenges cancer patients face first hand and this 13.1 mile trek is my personal challenge. Having just begun to run, I hope these '60 something' legs will carry me the distance. Good luck to all. -Drew Blake I’m running to honor all the cancer survivors. I hope that they will find a cure for cancer. Running 13.1 miles is my new adventure! It’s fun to run with my Cabrillo friends. -Ha Nguyen Every time I walk into the counseling office I expect to see Judy and her wonderful smile. Running is just my small way of helping making her return possible. -Glenn Lillie
